About Allergic Rhinitis

Hayfever is Seasonal Allergic Rhinitis, where sufferers are allergic to pollens which are prevalent at certain times of the year, but sufferers of Perenial Allergic Rhinitis are usually allergic to a number of substances which cause them to suffer the symptoms all year long. Allergens such as mould spores, or droppings from the House Dust Mite are usual suspects.

Common symptoms are:

  • coughing
  • headache
  • itching nose, mouth, eyes, throat, skin, or any area exposed to the allergen.
  • runny nose (and occasionally nosebleeds)
  • impaired smell (and thus sensitivity to flavours)
  • sneezing
  • stuffy nose (nasal congestion)
  • watering eyes and/or plugged up ear canals.
  • sore throat
  • wheezing
  • cross-reactivity allergy to some fruits
  • conjunctivitis
  • fever (occasionally)

Like Hayfever sufferers, Rhinitis sufferers often have Asthma, Eczema, food intolerances and other allergies as well.
